Volunteer with HELLO (From Small Steps to Board Service)
Below are several ways to participate, listed in order of increasing engagement. Every level helps—and you can jump in wherever it fits.

The HELLO Community thrives because members choose to move beyond observing and take small, practical steps to help. First, if you have not already done so join the community, then start with the lowest-commitment actions (a follow or share). Thereafter, move up as your time and interest allow.
Level 1 — 30 seconds: Follow, Like, and Share
Much of what happens on the HELLO website is also shared on our social media channels. Follow the HELLO Community on LinkedIn and connect with us on Facebook. Links to these sites are also available in the top menu of every page.

When HELLO content appears in your feed, please consider liking, sharing, or reposting it to help extend our reach. You can also share from the social media menu on the right side of most pages.
Level 2 — 2 minutes: Stay in the Loop (Email Updates)

All members are automatically subscribed to the HELLO Community blog and receive email updates when new posts are published. You can adjust how often you receive these messages using the links at the bottom of each email.
Other activity can also trigger notifications. For example, when you join a group you can choose immediate updates or email digests. Manage all notification settings in Settings → Email on your My Stuff page.
Level 3 — 2–5 minutes: Share Feedback
Tell us what’s working, what’s missing, and what would make the community more useful for your role.
Complete a testimonial and let others know how the HELLO Community has impacted your professional life.
Level 4 — 5 minutes: Invite a Colleague

On many pages, the right-side panel includes an Invite Colleagues widget. Use it to email colleagues who might benefit from the HELLO Community.
- Enter one or more email addresses.
- Customize the subject line and message (optional).
- Suggest groups they may want to join (optional).
Level 5 — 10–20 minutes: Contribute a Resource
Share a template, checklist, process note, policy example, job aid, or short “what worked” summary that others can adapt. The links to the multiple mechanisms for contributing appear in the panel on the right.
Level 6 — Ongoing: Moderate an Existing Group
Help keep a group active and welcoming by guiding discussion, approving membership if needed, and encouraging practical sharing.
Level 7 — Lead a Topic Area: Create Your Own Group
Create a group around a specific topic or subset of members. You can moderate membership and content—and seed the space with a few thought-provoking posts to get conversation moving.
Level 8 — Help Us Grow: Present HELLO to Others
Spread the word—present to a local leadership group, state board, or at a workshop or conference. An overview slide deck is available to support these efforts; let us know how we can improve it or how else we can help.
Level 9 — Highest Commitment: Serve on a Board
Board service helps ensure the community stays mission-driven, well-governed, and sustainable. If you’re ready to contribute at a leadership level, we’d love to hear from you.
