To promote inter-institutional sharing of resources and practices, the SKM is distributed under a Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial–NoDerivatives 4.0 International License, with the additional specifications below.
Local adaptation and sharing
You are encouraged to modify and adapt the SKM for local, internal use. If changes will be shared outside your institution, they may only be distributed by:
- Contributing them back to the SKM Project, and
- Sharing them through the HELLO Community website.
Elements that may not be changed
The following components must remain unchanged in all local implementations and other uses of the SKM:
- The [SKM] home thought (and its notes) may not be removed or relocated. It must remain the root of the map.
- The SKM background image may not be removed or altered and must appear in every thought.
- Any thoughts linking to the HELLO Community site may not be removed, relocated, or modified.
- The [About the SKM and help resources] section and all thoughts it contains may not be removed, relocated, or modified, and must remain connected to [Sentient Knowledge Map Home].
No one may derive monetary gain—beyond reasonable reimbursement of expenses—from presentations, workshops, or consultations related to the SKM without the express written permission of the author.
Embedded surveys and other commercial content
The SKM incorporates content from certain commercial surveys and other metric sets. These materials remain the property of their identified providers and may only be used under those providers’ stated conditions (which may include payment of a fee).
Within the SKM, these materials are included solely to:
- Help users evaluate the potential utility of these products, and
- Support decision-making related to metric adoption.
Contributed content
By submitting content to the SKM Project, contributors acknowledge that their contributions may become part of the SKM and will be freely distributed under the licensing conditions described above.
