Why this book? The HR department contacted me to see if I would be willing to mentor one of my colleagues. The colleague was new to the role of a supervisor and HR explained that staff in this supervisor's department had consistently complained. To assist my colleague, I suggested we conduct a book study. We researched several books to help inform our supervisory practices, and together, chose the Collaborative Intelligence book. My colleague and I found the book helpful in understanding collaboration and to identify how our preferred collaborative approaches may differ from those we supervise. To conclude the book study, we developed action plans using many of the practical activities found in the book.
