Community Networking
The HELLO Community is a focused social network—similar to Facebook or LinkedIn—built specifically for higher education administrators.
In this section, you’ll find:
- A directory of all members
- Members organized by location, including a map to see who’s nearby
- A chronicle of member activity across the site
This is also where you manage what you share and how you communicate with others. These tools are explained in more detail in About My Stuff later in this menu.
Help us get to know you
HELLO is more than a website—it’s a community. For it to thrive, members need ways to discover one another’s backgrounds, interests, and expertise.
Please complete your member profile (see the My Stuff link in this menu) and share a bit about yourself.
If you’d like, you can also provide email, social networking, and video-conferencing details so colleagues can reach you outside HELLO. We also ask for your location so we can:
- Help members form local networks by identifying colleagues nearby
- Show where our members are around the world (via map views)
We recommend that you do not share your street address unless you explicitly want to.
With the exception of your location and affiliation (visible to everyone), you control who can view your profile information: everyone, members only, friends only, or just you. The HELLO Community does not share member information outside the community—and within HELLO, you decide what others can see.
Create your own network of friends and colleagues
Once your profile is in place, start connecting with other members. Browse the full membership roster, or search by affiliation or location. Click a member’s name to view their profile.
You can also explore potential mentoring relationships with members.
From the member lists or profile pages, you can:
- Follow / Unfollow a member
Useful when you value their posts, articles, or shared resources. - Send or remove a friendship request
Friends may see additional profile information you choose to share. - Send a compliment
Let members know you appreciate the insights, resources, or support they’ve contributed. - Send a private or public message
Messages appear on the Messages tab of their profile. Members can reply privately. - Invite members to a group
(Available to group administrators.)
These tools are designed to help you build a meaningful network within HELLO. Use them to connect, collaborate, and support one another.
