"Responding to Challenges Through Innovation”
Challenges confront higher education in virtually every part of the enterprise: funding, governance, teaching, technology, equity, outcomes, and purpose. It’s obvious that many of these challenges will not go away any time soon; indeed, if anything, the number of challenges seems to be increasing. In the academic part of the system, critical challenges include helping under-prepared students, designing intrusive and effective advising, creating pathways that students understand, tracking and responding to student progress, creating engaging learning environments, assessing and increasing learning outcomes, designing a coherent general education curriculum, developing more contemporary majors, designing effective, early career planning, and a host of other issues. The campuses that survive and thrive will be those that innovate.
What to Expect:
-Remarkable content from 60+ concurrent sessions led by higher ed peers and subject-matter experts.
-Leave energized with practical takeaways and inspiration.
-Connect with hundreds of higher ed HR professionals who are celebrating and wrestling with many of the same campus ups and downs you do.
We cordially invite you to participate in the POD Network’s 44th Annual Conference to be held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, November 13–17, 2019, at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. Registration will open in July.
This year’s conference theme is: Connection: Closing the Distance
To lead, support, and inspire meaningful change within our institutions, learning environments, and in our profession, it is essential that we build and foster connections—between faculty, students of all levels, administrators, programs, institutions, the wider higher ed community, and evolving educational tools such as technologies and social media. Effective teaching and learning requires evidence-based intentionality, but within a network of strong relationships.
